"That rock. How do you see it?" My friend asks me as he points at a stone sitting on the curb of the road. "What do you think it's meaning is?"

"Uh, I don't think rocks have meanings. Anyway, why are you asking that question? Are you feeling all right?" I ask him.

He laughs for a second, and then begins to walk again. "Sephora, let me tell you something. So long as something exists, it has meaning. Until that thing disappears forever, it will interact with other meanigs and like threads, it will create a beautiful tapestry of meaning."

"All right. You lost me. Just what do you mean by that?"

"Everything has a meaning. Sometimes, you don't realize this meaning. Other times, it's fairly obvious. Like the grass on our lawns. The grass creates food from the sun's energy. That grass then becomes food for herbivores, which get eaten by the carnivores or omnivores, which become food for other carnivores and herbivores. And when those omnivores and carnivores die, the become food for the plants."

"And the meaning of that rock would be...?" I asked after he finished.

"... I'm working on that part."
